Episode 19 – It’s coming home, it’s coming! Football’s coming home!

Weekend Warm-Up!

After last weekend, it’s been an uphill struggle this week to recover from lost sleep. After the euphoria of last weekend and winning that craved-for cup on Sunday, I’ve certainly felt the repercussions this week.

Despite my seemingly never-ending tiredness, I’ve managed to finish up on Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and I have moved onto the second one, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. If you’re interested in reading my thoughts on the two (soon to be four) games, check out my blog series “Uncharted Is Overrated, And What?”.

Episode 18 – Championes! Ole! Ole! Ole!

Weekend Warm-Up!

It’s been a torrid time for gaming news this week. Square Enix have given IO Interactive, the studio responsible for the greatly loved Hitman games, the boot. Square initially assumed ownership of IO when it bought Eidos Interactive, IO’s parent company. But in a statement released on Friday, the Japanese publisher says “to maximise player satisfaction as well as market potential going forward”, they have “regrettably decided to withdraw from the business of IO INTERACTIVE”. “As a result of this the Company started discussions with potential new investors and is currently in negotiations to secure this investment”, Square’s statement adds. “Whilst there can be no guarantees that the negotiations will be concluded successfully, they are being explored since this is in the best interests of our shareholders, the studio and the industry as a whole.” It’s unclear what this means exactly for the Danish studio and its staff, who aside from Hitman have also been responsible for Kane & Lynch and the criminally underrated Mini Ninjas, though it certainly suggests that Square is in the process of entertaining offers for the sale of IO. It also doesn’t explain what happens to the Hitman IP once the two companies split, or what the future holds for Hitman‘s new seasonal release model.

Episode 15 – “Watch the thrust!”

Weekend Warm-Up!

I’ve made a vow to make Horizon Zero Dawn my very first PS4 platinum. Having said that, I’ve actually already got a platinum trophy linked with my PSN account and that was for Resistance: Burning Skies on the PS Vita. Hey, I’m pretty new to the whole PlayStation thing so don’t scoff at me like that! As much as I enjoy trophy hunting, I’m certainly not obsessed with getting them all. Sure, the nice round 100% figure looks lovely, but it’s not something I’d tend to strive for unless it was for a game I’m truly in love with… which is certainly the case with Horizon Zero Dawn. Although I’m relatively new to the PlayStation side of things, I’ve very much been an achievement whore in the past on my Xbox, there’s many a game on there I’ve gotten 1000G on. The one I’m most ashamed of? Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Burning Earth of course… 1000G in less than 2 minutes? It’s so cringe-worthy.

Episode 14 – Happy Easter!

Over the Easter weekend, I’ve been rather busy. So much so that I never had chance to write the first part of my Weekend Run-Through, so I’ll be doing things a little differently this week. I’ll just get straight down to business and let you all know what mischief I managed to get up to without the bulk (I’m not even sure if you guys appreciate that stuff anyway!). So, let’s start with Good Friday.

Episode 13 – How do I cure Sanguinare Vampiris?

“Just like that, as mysteriously as he arrived, he was gone”…

That’s right, the weekend has been and gone. If you blinked, you may have missed it!

That’s what I did, I blinked. The weekend flew by and I never managed to even power my console on.

It’s like the least gamer thing to say, but this weekend I actually left the comfort of my dark, little cesspit and enjoyed the sun. The graphics were pretty good and I didn’t have any drop in frame rate. Let’s face it, residing in the UK is pretty much a guarantee for gloomy weather, which explains why most of us are so gloomy ourselves.

Weekend Warm-Up!

If you’ve been keeping tabs on me this week, you’ll have seen my meltdown over Call Of Duty. I’ve abused the hell out of it and the capitalist ideals it stands for. It’s been a dramatic 3-part miniature series, which disastrously concluded on Friday with my admission that I’d finally been broken and that I had begrudgingly bought Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition.

Episode 11 – That sounds… ominous!

“Just like that, as mysteriously as he arrived, he was gone”…

That’s right, the weekend has been and gone. If you blinked, you may have missed it!

In these series of posts, I’ll be documenting all the little goings on that happen to me over those precious couple of days. Religious folk believe they’re rest days, Sunday in particular, but I think we all know that they were really designed for sitting in our pants, playing video games.

Weekend Warm-Up!

My week has pretty much continued from where my weekend left off. I’ve continued my play through on Horizon Zero Dawn without anything else in between. Well, not really. I’ve played some Gravity Rush on my PS Vita here and there, but nothing for long periods.

This week has seen the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, and I’ve been bitterly disappointed with some of the reviews. It looks like it’s got poor voice acting, shoddy animations and a drab storyline. Thankfully the combat has been praised, but whether that’s enough to warrant it’s purchase, I’m not sure. I’ll no doubt be putting my hand in my pockets to buy this at some point, but it might not be as soon as I had originally intended.
