Episode 07 – Nothing To See Here!
“Just like that, as mysteriously as he arrived, he was gone”…
That’s right, the weekend has been and gone. If you blinked, you may have missed it!
In these series of posts, I’ll be documenting all the little goings on that happen to me over those precious couple of days. Religious folk believe they’re rest days, Sunday in particular, but I think we all know that they were really designed for sitting in our pants, playing video games.
The desire to press those round, small buttons or tenderly squeeze those tight, rigid shoulders has evaded me this week. I wouldn’t worry too much as my mistress knows the deal, she’s to play second fiddle every now and then, especially in my busy day-to-day life. Of course, by ‘mistress’, I refer to my beloved console.
If you haven’t been sufficiently weirded out yet, congratulations! Read on…
That’s right, In a week where there’s been quite a bit going on gaming-wise, I’ve barely even picked up my controller. I just haven’t had a minute to myself, as I’ve been out and about, socialising the way a proper human should do. Which is great, it just leaves me with barely any time to write. Now that I have got a moment to write, I’ve got nothing to write about.
Last week, I mentioned that I’d finally ordered myself a memory card for my PS Vita. I bit the bullet so hard, it’s broken some of my teeth. Anyway, to accommodate my new purchase, I bought a few games too. Obviously, the games all arrived long before the memory card, which is
f***ing stupid, I mean when you order something for next day delivery, you’d expect NEXT DAY F***ING DELIVERY, whatever dense b****** packaged this tiny card up and the sat on it for 4 days before posting needs injecting with a dose of malaria whilst a mountain goat s***s in his or her mouth pretty annoying.
My busy schedule continues this weekend I’m afraid, so I don’t expect there to be too much going on. I’m out drinking most of Saturday with some friends so that day’s pretty much written off; both in the gaming sense, and the severely intoxicated sense.
Seriously, the only gaming I can see happening will be during the occasional time my arse cheeks touch the rim of the toilet. As my phone doesn’t really qualify as a games console, would taking my PS Vita out with me be frowned upon? Yeah, probably.
The Ghost Recon: Wildlands beta has been sat waiting for me all week so I hope I’ll get the opportunity to play it. I’ve kept my eye on the progress this game’s had over the past few years, but I’m yet to be convinced. I love tactical third-person shooters and I’ve always been a fan of the original Ghost Recon games. The two Ghost Recon: Warfighter games are some of the best third-person shooter games ever made. They’re genre defining, but I’m not sure if going down the open-world route is the best way to go. Time will tell, I suppose.
Oww… my head.
Why is everything so loud?
Why is the screen so bright?… ugh………
That was a taste of my Sunday for you, a day of self-reflection and feeling very, very sorry for myself.
Saturday turned out to be a long day for me, no gaming though I’m afraid. Nope, not even whilst on my frequent restroom visits. Which clearly, makes thinking of something to write about here difficult to say the least. My Saturday was the real life ‘drunk’ mode from Grand Theft Auto V… at least from what I remember, was.
I managed a few measly hours on Gravity Rush on my PS Vita. I’ve regretted trading it in all those years ago so I bought it again to re-play. It was a pretty cheap find on eBay, and I’m chuffed to be flying around Hekseville again. I love the concept, the design and the scope of the game and it’s up there as one of my all-time favourites. I’m just devastated that Gravity Rush 2 isn’t making it’s way to the PS Vita. It just shows how high the console is regarded by Sony (not very, just incase you were wondering).
Much like my week, I didn’t manage to pick up a controller this weekend either. I’m disappointed that I couldn’t try out the open beta for Ghost Recon: Wildlands. I’m really sceptical about the new direction Ubisoft are heading in, and I should have jumped at the chance to try it out. The game has been in development since 2012, so they’ve clearly put a lot of time and effort into the game, but I just don’t don’t want another generic open-world shooter.
If anyone has played the open beta, please let me know how you’ve found it. I guess I’ll have to trawl through YouTube for some gameplay.
Proud as Punch!
Not throwing up all over my sofa… again.
I’ve got next week off work, so I should hopefully redeem myself and get some gaming hours in. I’ve got some serious catching up to do!
I know, I know, his has been an awful offering for my weekly post. I’ll make more of an effort next weekend, I promise!
The moral of the story? Don’t drink. Ever.
I may have had very little time to play video games this weekend, but what have you been playing?
